Another Marley visits Room 9!

Today we were very lucky to meet George and his guide dog in training called MARLEY! Yes, he is a guide dog like our Marley. Marley was very good and didn't bark once. Some children got to give him a pat and we asked George LOTS of questions about Marley and Guide Dogs. We loved having Marley visit!

Movie: The Baton Comes to School

The Commonwealth Games Baton comes to Botany Downs School

Today we were very lucky to welcome the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay to our school. The baton has been travelling all around the world since last October when the Queen placed a message on the baton that will be read when the Commonwealth Games open in India in October this year. We made flags and cheered and waved as the baton arrived. What a special day!

An Exciting Day in Room 9

We had an exciting day in Room 9 today. First we went to a great assembly led by Room 17 and then after visiting the library we talked to the kindergarten using Skype. It was our first time and we have learnt lots about where we need to sit to be seen on the webcam. We had to be quiet when the kindergarten children were asking us questions about the GINORMOUS spider we found in the cloakroom.

We spent the rest of the day learning about rockets and making our own rocket models. A lot of our rockets have booster rockets on them. These give the rocket extra power to get into space, but the booster rockets fall back to earth to be used again. Can you see our booster rockets in the pictures?

Visiting Botany Downs Kindergarten

Today we visited Botany Downs Kindergarten to meet the children we are going to talk to on Skype. We loved seeing everyone at mat time and thought Franklin the turtle was very cute! We can't wait to talk to our new friends over the internet on Skype!

Today CB discovered how to make the screen all black on kidpix. It looked like space so he added a planet and a space robot! Now everyone else will have to see if they can make a space picture too!

Balloon Day

Today is Balloon Day! We are all wearing red clothes and had sausages for our lunch. We are taking balloons home at the end of the day. The money that we raise will help people with Asthma.
